Baseball Addict: A Grand Slam Winner
Software Reviews
By: pdaBlast! Staff
November 26, 2003

Fielding is a combination of computer and manual control. When a ball is hit the computer will typically move the appropriate player to the correct position to make a play. This means that the correct outfielder will move to catch a fly ball. The manual part of fielding comes with moving players, or throwing to a base. Throwing the ball is done by tapping on the appropriate spot on the small image of the baseball diamond in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Moving a player is done by tapping the appropriate spot on the actual playing field. The player that you are currently controlling will move to that particular spot.

Impressions
Baseball Addict is a nice implementation of baseball - on any platform, not just the Pocket PC. Hexacto has managed to fit many of the features one would expect with baseball simulations on more advanced platforms. The game has multiple game play modes, different pitch selections, advanced hitting, and many other nice touches which really make this game a winner.

The Good: I love the fact that Baseball Addict plays very similarly to other baseball simulations that you would find on today's advanced video game consoles. I like the fact that there are multiple pitches, and that each individual pitcher has his own unique selection of pitches. A nice touch is that the pitchers get tired as the innings progress. The fatigue is evidenced by the fact that the power meter begins to get shorter which means that your pitcher won't be able to throw as hard or as accurately.

The sound in the game is very appropriate. You hear background music that you would traditionally hear at a ball game and the occasional crowd roar when a good play. Add in the crack of the bat, and the umpire’s calls and Baseball Addict really makes you feel as though you are in the game.
