HP is moving full steam ahead with its plans for Palm's OS. Despite recently saying that Palm may become a "sub-brand," the company is moving ahead with plans to put webOS on a variety of devices including smartphones, and netbooks.

Microsoft recently said they would be giving free Windows Phone 7 phones to their 90,000 employees, and it looks like there might be some strings attached. The company has a plan to get their employees to use the phones thereby starting with a small user base already 90,000 strong. Microsoft dumps Kin

Well that was fast. Just weeks after the official launch of Microsoft's Kin line of phones, it looks like the company is pulling the plug. engadget is reporting that Andy Lees has "rolled Kin into the Windows Phone 7 team" and canceled the existing product's European launch. According to WMExperts, Windows Live Hotmail will officially support Exchange ActiveSync sometime this summer. What does this mean for the average Joe? It means users of Android phones and iPhones can now get push Hotmail on their devices. Can anyone say Finally?!

Ballmer admits that Microsoft was ahead in the smartphone game, and now they are way behind. He admits that Microsoft "missed a whole cycle" and are now trying to find their way back.

Best Buy has now dropped the price for the Microsoft Kin and Kin Two by $50. That means that you can get a Kin One for Free, and a Kin Two for $50. You'll need to sign a 2-year contract to get the pricing of course, but what a deal.
The Kin has not seen a lot of traction to date because the price was just to high. Who would buy a Kin when they could get a much more powerful smartphone for about the same price? Let's see if Best Buy's new Kin pricing gives Microsoft some traction....read more

Microsoft has set some lofty goals for its Windows Phone 7 devices. The company presented a slide slow during a ReMix event in Paris yesterday, and the company said it is expecting to sell 30 million Windows Phone 7 devices by the end of 2011. It's been so long since we heard any significant Windows Mobile or Windows Phone news that we've sort of counted Microsoft out of the mobile game. HP has apparently halted the Slate tablet project. According to TechCrunch, a "source tells us that HP is not satisfied with Windows 7 as a tablet operating system and has terminated the project."
HP was on its way to building a Windows 7 tablet device, but the recent news that the company is acquiring Palm has thrown a wrench in their plans.
